Val-El (Earth-One)

Val-El was a native of the planet Krypton and a respected member of the House of El. He was known as a great explorer responsible for discovering lands that would later become known as Urrika and Lurvan. A statue of Val-El holding a telescope was erected and placed within the House of El family memorial vault on the planet, Rokyn.

Known powers: Val-El possessed no superhuman powers while living under a red sun. Had he existed on a world revolving around a yellow sun, he would have developed physical attributes equitable to that of Superman.

• The character of Val-El was created by writer E. Nelson Bridwell and artist Curt Swan.

• Val-El's existence is exclusive to Krypton of the Pre-Crisis continuity.

• Val-El is a direct paternal ancestor of the super-hero known as Superman.

• Val-El's final fate has never been revealed, but it is reasonable to assume that he passed away of natural causes long before the ultimate destruction of Krypton.
